The history of chess in the 19th century

Since 1987 I am interested in the history of chess and I prefer the 19th century, when the game became popular. In 2014, I wrote a book with the German title "Schach in Zeitungen des 19. Jahrhunderts" (Chess in newspapers in the 19th century, 340 pages) and in 2016 I published the first volume of the series "Schachaufgaben im Original" (vintage chess problems) with the titel "Payne's Illustrirter Familien-Kalender 1858-1865." In general, I am interested in the topic of chess in art and culture. More information about me can be found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elke_Rehder

On this website I will inform you about the history of chess at irregular intervals

1 Chess magazines in Europe and the USA

2 Chess columns in newspapers

3 will be continued
